Hi, my full name is Denise Stewart but I go by D as it is short like me. All 4'11" of me. My husband and I lived in Southern California until St Patricks Day of 1991 to the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
My husband had retired in 1988 and I retired in 1991 then moved. In 1993 I opened Aunt Dee's Greenhouse. Sold potted pernnials, being a bad location I did not have a lot of business so in 1995 closed it down. I could not handle not playing in the dirt and needed something to do, so in 1999 I opened Snowpeak Iris.
I started with about 1/2 acre and now I am at 3 acres...My only wish is I wish I had started this when I was younger. LOL.
While Polly specializes in Beardless iris mine is the bearded, all heights. That being said, I have many varieties of Siberians, some Japanese, many Spuria and now quite a selection of Species iris. My taste for the species iris has grown after seeing the rare beauty of them first in person and then thru Boojum's (on Cubits) lovely photo's.
I have a lovely husband, one son, one daughter, 6 children. Oldest is my daughters son, will be 21 in October this year, next comes my Son in Laws oldest son, at 20 then my son's wife has a 20 year old girl, then my daughters husband has an 18 year son, and my daughter in law has a 17 year old girl and last but not the least is the 13 year who no one beleives she is 13, as she is all legs at 5'9". She plays basketball and does Cheer and Drill. My oldest is working part time and going to college. I am proud of my kids and grandkids, but alas none of them like to garden.
I too Paul belong to a very active iris club that has many well known hybridizers.
