I think many of our gardening love was handed down. My Mom had peonies & ferns in her childhood garden in Omaha, so we had them in Milwaukee. Our back neighbor had a small yard but it was full of iris which began my love of those, although we also have peonies & ferns. The ferns are sort of accidental here. I admired the lilies of the valley in my Mom's fern bed so we have them here & they were my wedding bouquet 57 years ago. Dad was really a veg. garden person.
