This plant is no ordinary "blackstem" Alocasia. It is, in fact, a hybrid between the black-petioled Alocasia macrorrhizos and my hybrid, Alocasia "Imperial Giant". This picture was taken in 2009; the plant was set back by the recent cold winter, but has come back strong. It is already much larger than it was in this picture, and I am looking forward to it becoming as large or larger than the Borneo Giant.
