I went back and re-read the thread and I see something. Flowers. You asked the men to not step on your flowers. They probably do not the the plants in your rock garden as actual 'flowers' like with petals and pretty colors. It could be that they were just innocently stepping on things that grow almost as weeds in their native countries.
