Mark - two observations.
I don't think yours is Kaneohe Sunburst Sad I thought so before I even looked at the flower pictures, because KS has very slender, knobby branches and yours looks pretty stubby. But the bloom is not right either, I'm sorry to say.
And yes, it is/was virus infected. Although I'm not positive that that is what is causing your plant to fail to produce leaves. The leaf that I can see looks unaffected but have you checked for spider mites?
