My piece of advice is to watch how you water, I have over 50 houseplants now and I treat each one differently. You have come to a good forum with alot of educated people, the only bad question is the one you dont ask, so ask ahead 
thats how I learned and I killed many along the way. If you can post pics we can help you id some for you. Good Luck
