Hi Joanna, I usually repot in a container depending on the amount of root mass left and the relative size/height of the plant. Do allow the roots to heal a bit so do not water right away. You may have to stake the plant a bit till it gets to anchor itself again. Roots of Jade plants are pretty much smaller and shallow, so try not to use too deep a container. I just use cacti soil and I further add perlite or pumice to really make it well draining. Position the plant after repot in part sun/shade till it adjusts again to your new container set up.
