It's nice to know that others do care and are concerned. It's hard to know what to grow in this area. There are some years, like earlier this year, when we had drought conditions. During other years, we get too much rain, like 2 years ago when I lost nearly all of my irises. 
One thing I know for sure is that this area is not ready for drought tolerant plants. They will surely rot it it gets too wet.
