Lisasgardens said:I just got soft wood and semi-? wood cuttings this morning and I need to plant them asap. My problem is that I don't have sand to mix with soil to root them. I don't have and don't want to buy grow lights either like one Google search told me to. I do have new potting soil and can place them inside when it gets to cold outside. Can anyone help give me some advice on rooting these cuttings please.
Thank you Lisa

What Plantcollector said. I always try to have a bag of sand around cause I use a lot in my potting soil mixes. But no need to run and get some for this. It would help, but is definitely not necessary.

WRT grow lights. Balooney - never heard of it for cuttings. Seeds indoors, yes. Cuttings, no.

BTW - some perlite if you got it. Needs good drainage. Some rooting hormone will help too.

Good luck.
