I have tons of this flower, but when looking for seed, I couldn't tell what was seed and what was chaff. This truly is a favorite of the birds. The Juncos have now joined the Goldfinches in eating this.
Here is a summer picture of the Goldfinch. It was interesting... we never had Goldfinches breed here until I planted this. :)
Let me go out and see what I can find.
I mentioned earlier natives that can be found in Iowa, even grasses are fine, except Indian Grass... I've got plenty of seed.
These are the items on my want list on this site:
Carrion Flower (Smilax herbacea) or any of the native Smilax that are not the briars.
Horse Nettle (Solanum carolinense)
Living stones (Lithops) Several in my family want this and we are not finding the plant locally.
Sponge Luffa (Luffa cylindrica)
