I first grew the lavender form of Salvia coccinea many years ago and, although the color is lovely, it doesn't have the best form in the world.
Tropical Sage (Salvia coccinea 'Lavender Form')

Alana ( @poisondartfrog ) and I were talking last year about how breeders should be working with this interesting color to improve form and floriferousness. It appears that Takii was doing just that and has now added Salvia Summer Jewel™ Lavender to its Summer Jewel series of Salvia coccinea. Like the others in that series, it is an AAS Flower Award Winner (2016.)

I know that I'll be keeping an eye out for these seeds to try. Big Grin
If anyone grows it next year, please be sure to post about it in the database.

@Gerris2 - If memory serves, I believe that I got my original seeds of 'Lavender Form' from a trade with you so I thought that you might be interested in this introduction, too. Smiling
