I first grew the lavender form of Salvia coccinea many years ago and, although the color is lovely, it doesn't have the best form in the world.

@poisondartfrog ) and I were talking last year about how breeders should be working with this interesting color to improve form and floriferousness. It appears that Takii was doing just that and has now added Salvia Summer Jewel™ Lavender to its Summer Jewel series of Salvia coccinea. Like the others in that series, it is an AAS Flower Award Winner (2016.)
