I agree with you treehugger it is not a E. tithymaloides, basing on the non zig zag growth of the stem of your mystery plant. I really like the very neat arrangement of the leaves of your plant, looks very organized and the stem looks tightly braided.

The leaves remind me also of an aroid..but it sure is so different. Hey try the plant id forum we have here...more eyes to see and id it!
