Calendar of Events: Bringing Wildflowers Home: A look at Spring Wildflowers & Bryophytes of Ohio

Event Date: Apr 13, 2019 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

On April 13, 2019, 9:00am to 5:00pm, the Midwest Native Plant Society will present a workshop about the spring and summer wildflowers found in Ohio. Since the focus will be on Ohio Spring wildflowers, we thought the perfect location for this workshop would be at the Aullwood Audubon Center, in Dayton, Ohio. The nature center and wildflower trails provide the perfect backdrop for studying some of the best examples of woodland wildflowers. We will also take a look at bryophytes: mosses, liverworts or hornworts! Registration cost is $55 and includes lunch. We want to thank our partners, the Dayton Wild Ones Chapter.

Our speakers and program offerings are listed below. Field Trips will be in late afternoon on the grounds with the option of staying in the field as late or early as you choose. Here is a Registration Form that you can print and return with your payment. We are not offering online registration for this workshop. Registrants will receive a link to the annual Audubon Sale where you can pre-order and pickup your goodies that day. The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden will be selling quality native plants during our workshop too. The Center will be holding their annual Aullwood Audubon Native Plant Sale on this weekend. Our attendees will be able to pre-order and pick up their orders on the day of the workshop. In addition to Aullwood's plants, we will have additional selling vendors present, such as the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, who will have a variety of native plants for sale.

Our speakers are Tom Hissong, Brian Jorg, Gregory Torres, Jim Toppin and Janet Traub. Late afternoon we will hike the grounds and nearby areas looking for wildflowers, mosses and other flora and fauna.

See website for additional details & registration info.
