Steven's blog: Gardening in the City: Under Lights

Posted on Jul 25, 2011 7:58 PM

<p>The last few months I have really been enjoying gardening indoors, many of the problems of gardening outside simply go away..........and I like that! Gardening under lights also makes the most of my space since I live on a small urban lot.</p>
<p>Here's a few of my plants that I grow under lights....</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Mini Sinningia 'Glory Be', this ones growing in a 3oz cup!</p>

<p> </p>
<p>Streptocarpus 'Texas Hot Chilli', the red on this one is really something!</p>
<p><a href="http://garden.org/pics/2011-07-26/Steven/354195.jpg" class="lightbox"><img class="thumb" style="margin: 5px;" src="http://garden.org/pics/2011-07-26/Steven/354195-250.jpg" alt="2011-07-26/Steven/354195" width="250" height="250" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>African Violet 'Mac's Pizza Pizzacato', the little crinkled leaves are a nice feature!</p>
<p><a href="http://garden.org/pics/2011-07-26/Steven/2a88bf.jpg" class="lightbox"><img class="thumb" style="margin: 5px;" src="http://garden.org/pics/2011-07-26/Steven/2a88bf-250.jpg" alt="2011-07-26/Steven/2a88bf" width="250" height="250" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>Last one for tonight is Oxalis 'Velvet Sunset', this one goes outside for the summer but its grows really well under lights the rest of the year, the colour is a real deep orange when it's inside.</p>
