I keep checking at Lowe's to see if they have the new seed racks out, but nothing still. I went to Tractor Supply next door to Lowe's and they had the seed racks out, but it looked like last years seeds and not new ones, I should have actually checked the dates.
I am still in the market for a few new roses, need to cull some of the old ones that were mislabeled when I bought them, and I have a couple that just don't do well, or at least have not done well so far. I know some of that is my own fault for not giving them the proper care, but they just have not resisted black spot at all.
The fever is getting worse each day to plant something, last year at this time I had several things planted and up, nothing planted so far this year. I love the very early tomatoes that Burpee has, so I am waiting to get those to get my planting started off for the new year. I did find some lettuce seed out in the shed, I might just sow those and the leftover carrot seed and see what comes up. Last year using old seed was a total bust. We remodeled the kitchen this year, so Hooray...I now have my own private refrigerator down in the garage to keep bulbs and seeds in, so my leftover seeds this season should be much better.
Too, thinking back and looking at my notes I actually planted a month too early and by planting time I had tomato plants that were getting too large, plus I had way too many.
I have a much better arrangement for starting seeds indoors with more room to work so even if the seed starting is a flop this year, I can fail in a more comfortable work space.
Checked on the daylilies after three days of freezing temps some down to 18 degrees and they look like dark green mush, hopefully the weather will warm up soon. Just as a note, the dang Aphids appeared to be hanging in there and did not look dead yet.I am hoping they will freeze to death, if not I will spray them with some diluted ammonia. That does not appear to hurt the plants and may even give them a little boost.
The daffodils are still slowly working their way out of the soil, I see a few more each day, still no sign yet of the Hyacinths.
