Got a good rain yesterday, over 1/2 inch plus it came down slow over a long period of time, still cooler than normal for this time of year. Very sunny today, beautiful!
Well remember when I bought daylilies from G.H. Wild and got two little asiatic lily bulbs as a gift plant. I never thought they would bloom this year, but one has already bloomed and the other one has buds on it.
Still getting some daylily blooms everyday.
Other things around the garden of interest today
The marked down SunHosta I bought early in the year at Lowe's have done fantastic, they have all lived and now they are starting to bloom, beautiful white blooms even have a scent, very faint but pleasant.
Well, it looks like I finally will get the opportunity to go visit Peace On Earth Gardens over in Georgia, tomorrow.
I wanted to go much earlier, but one thing after another kept getting in the way. I may need a loan from the International Monetary Fund, but heck, looks like nobody ever pays them back anyhow.
I have a list of what I want, then it just depends on the money situation and what I see. Naturally they must all be cheap...errr great values...yeah, that sounds better. So I am pretty excited, great ordering on line, always exciting to have something arriving in the mail, but I really love going and actually getting to see the plants and talk with the growers, still hoping for some recommendations from them when I get there.
Pulled a few weeds today, I finally have the weeds in the yard pretty much under control, now with the rain the grass should start greening back up, and the weeds will start growing again.
I decided the new daylilies had been in the ground long enough to get a little boost, plus I was reading a thread here in ATP about daylilies needing nitrogen for rebloom so I socked it to them today, high nitrogen lawn fertilizer and milorganite. The milorganite was to try and run the critters off more than anything, last night they completely dug up 'Jay Turman', but with the rain and the fact that I got out really early this morning, there was no noticeable harm done to the plant. I fill sure it will set it back being it will have to reestablish its roots.
Anyhow, my neighbors have been gone for a week and their dogs were in the kennel, so maybe with them back now the critters will be afraid to come back around.
