Calif_Sue's blog: Sod

Today is the day to relax, yesterday we had sod delivered and while we had never put in sod, it was a quick and easy learn, but today I am reminded that I am old! Those sod rolls are heavy!

Thankfully it was a perfect day weather wise to get it laid, not too warm, just a bit of that fall breeze.

The next 2-4 weeks we have to water it daily to ensure rooting. I will be planting that back curved bed soon, just have to decide what I want. It's a relatively narrow bed so it can't be anything that gets too large. I have several gold carex that I am pretty sure I will use along the front of the bed.

Brad & I got pretty good at the rolling out, piecing them in and trimming but I do think that's the last time I want to lay sod! Thankfully my son-in-law came home in time to help lift the bottom rolls off the stack and roll them out for me. I was getting to the point where I could squat down to pick them up, it was the getting back up part that wasn't working so well anymore!

Not bad for a grandma, if I do say so myslef! :-)
