I mowed my winter rye grass for the first time today. I was hoping to get a lot more clippings but I had the mower set pretty high being it was the first cut, so I ended up with more leaves than grass. I just dumped that combination into the nearest flower bed.
I ended up weeding another two beds today, not many weeds in there and they were all small, but I can already see with the weather warming more and the days getting longer the weeds are growing. I did manage to spray for weeds for the second time yesterday, hope to see results from that in a few more days.
This afternoon was my wife's card playing day, and I was pretty well caught up, so I decided to make a trip up to Lowe's and check things out. No new roses that appealed to me, I need about three. The clearance racks had nothing interesting, so I decided to check out the fertilizers. Nothing there like I was looking for, so I headed for the seed rack. They have new cardboard display racks this year, but pretty much the same selection of seeds. Some of them have been coated to make them easier to handle when planting, but that doubles the price.
Anyhow, due mostly to boredom, I went ahead and picked a few seed packets out, bought a bag of perlite, and a bag of potting soil and headed home.
2 packets of columbine, Dragonfly and McKanas
2 packets of Zinnias: Early Bird and California Giant
2 packets of Marigold: Bolero, and Crackerjack
1 packet of Cosmos: Sensation Mix
