Yoshino Cherry Trees on Street

Yoshino Cherry Trees on Street
Posted by Lisa Stephens from Atlanta, GA on 2008-05-05 10:52:00

Our street has about 50 Yoshino cherrys planted on it - all of them about 7 years old. About half of them are quite big and very lush - just gorgeous. The other half are ridden with berries and the foliage is not nearly as dense and they are much smaller in height and width.
Is this a male/female problem? If we want a huge cherry tree in our front yard like our neighbors, does this mean that we need one without the berries (after they have flowered)? I am so confused and just want our trees to be as large and pretty as many of the others!
Thanks so much for your help and advice!
