Talking about Pacific Coast Iris (Iris 'Silver Moon'), Polymerous wrote:

I recently discovered this unregistered PCI iris, being sold by Sequim Rare Plants. http://sequimrareplants.com/Ir... After I ordered it, I did another search and discovered a different nursery *also* selling a PCI with the name "Silver Moon", but their image and description differs from that of the first nursery. http://www.yerbabuenanursery.c... A third nursery also carries a PCI "Silver Moon"; their image and description appears to match that of the second nursery. http://www.goldrushnursery.com...

So it looks like there are (at least) two different PCIs in commerce going under the (unregistered with the AIS) name of "Silver Moon".

Per the hybridizer, this iris will rebloom in warm climates (at least zone 7). It has rebloomed here in my zone 9 garden.

In comparison to the somewhat similar 'Katharine Hodgkin', 'Frank Elder' has paler flowers and an orange stripe on the falls. Katharine Hodgkin has a yellow stripe.

Talking about Dutch Iris (Iris x hollandica), bxncbx wrote:

For those who want to try growing Dutch iris from seed here is some advice. Try wintersowing. Just make sure you don't throw away the jugs too quickly. I wintersowed some seed January 2017. The seeds did not germinate until April 2018.

This was a bonus from Keith, and I admit I hadn't really taken much notice of this hybrid before I received it. That said, the blooms on this cultivar are very sturdy and have a sheen that make them appear almost as if they were artificial. I'm guessing this hybrid isn't as appreciated as it should be considering the low number of folks who grow it in their garden. I want to state emphatically that this should be considered by everyone because of its fabulous blooms and magnificent beards (can't forget to mention the beards!).
