Another one for the sub tropics!!! I am amazed as I only recently planted this out from a small pot where I had put it on receiving a small fan only 4 months ago. Not fully open yet but I accidentally broke the tall bloom spike while watering it in, so this is my FFE.

Tay Daum has bloomed 4 months from when I bought a small fan from the hybridiser. I first put it in a 6"pot. Before I planted it out recently, it had a tall bloom spike which I cut and gave away. I am amazed it has done so well, and big blooms have continued for a month now. We had some cool nights but it only reached freezing for a few minutes on a couple of nights. Great having early bloomers in this sub tropical (YES!) climate.

It has a very slight, not great fragrance.

Who names irises? There is nothing crimson about this. At all. It's purple. Shrug. This is an old iris, I got mine from my mom, who got it from her mom. Very fragrant, and prolific. I have to thin mine out regularly, and just put my extras out for free at the end of the driveway.

I just divided my clump of 'Ida Red'. The PBF is not at all strong, barely a hint way down at the base. This, in early September in northern CA (zone 9).

Another Burseen that I think the wiki has wrong. I received it from Tom Burseen as "Well Spiced" not Spice.
