  • Both specimens I planted are very slow growers in my garden (7b, sandy soil). Beautiful blooms but lack of growth is very disappointing.
  • Bought this one, because I love the flower. Unfortunately, it is not a good grower in my garden (Zone 7b, sandy soil).
  • Reliable rebloom in zone 7 per Sutton's Iris Gardens
  • There is a discrepancy between the AIS database and the database here, as to whether or not LOVELY LOIS had PBF.

It is not registered as having PBF in the AIS database (per Wiki irises).

It is listed here as having PBF.

I found this list (provenance unknown) which indicates that LOVELY LOIS has PBF. http://www.iris-bulbeuses.org/...

Given how scant the PBF is (a narrow ring at the base of daughter rhizomes), and that it is generally not evident, it could be that the hybridizer decided not to register it as having PBF. (This was the case with PINKITY, so I'm guessing that it could happen with other irises.)

The mother rhizomes that I recently dug have daughters with tiny narrow rings of purple at the base - but I generally do not see PBF on this iris. Maybe it is only visible as these small rings on the new daughters? Maybe it comes and goes?
  • The PBF is not always obvious, leading you to wonder if you have the right iris, or not. It may be visible at the very base of new daughter rhizomes, in a small band, but may not otherwise be visible.
