Can a lemon balm plant in a pot be left outside through the Dallas winter and will it come back in the summer? Should I keep it in the sun or shade in the summer? Will this herb do well outside in chicago?

Lemon balm is a frost sensitive perennial, so if temperatures dip you'd have to bring it indoors or try covering it with frost cloth or burlap. In hot summers, it needs partial sun with afternoon shade, especially in a pot, where the soil heats up higher than it would in the ground. It would grow in Chicago outside in the summer. Enjoy your herbs!
