What can I do to encourage little figs to mature and ripen on my potted fig tree? They have never made it so far.

Figs need a long, warm summer season to mature. In your growing region, late frosts can affect fruit production. Some years the fruits will not have enough time to ripen; other years you'll have a huge harvest. It's just the nature of this heat loving tree. In Hawaii, young fig trees will produce 180-360 figs a year. In your hometown, the trees will still set fruit, but the fruit may not ripen. Best wishes next year!
