When potato plants develop flowers it indicates tubers are beginning to grow underground. If bees visit the flowers they will develop into a round seed pod. That's what you are seeing on your plants. If your cherry tree has borers you may need to have the tree assessed professionally. Borers are difficult to control once they have invaded a tree.
