I planted pansies last fall. This spring they bloomed nicely and are doing great, but 3 of them have developed huge leaves. The leaves look like a weed, but it is actually the plant. They have taken over, and the flowers are overpowered. The ones with the large leaves are the same variety as the ones doing well on all sides of the problem plants.

How odd! They have gotten a high dose of nitrogen and are responding with exceptional growth. You can pick off the largest leaves or you can just allow them to grow. The flowers themselves will be just fine and subsequent flowers will develop longer stems to raise them above the foliage. I know it looks odd but the large leaves are the result of happy roots.
