I have planted several varieties of radished the last few years. Each year, I get leafy tops, but no actual radish, just root. Over the years, I've added topsoil, hummus, and compost to our soil.

Radishes prefer a deep (at least 12 inches) light soil well amended with organic matter. Fertilizing, if any, should be light on the nitrogen. Most important to good radish production is the season. Late summer and fall-sown seeds produce better radishes than spring-sown seed. Hope this info helps!
