what can be done to increase the size of blueberries? i have good quanity but no size, would adding sulfur be of any help? tks,bob |
If the plants look healthy, the foliage is a good color, and the plants are growing well, I don't think adding nutrients or sulfur (to lower pH) will help. (If foliage is off-color or yellowish, the soil may not be acidic enough and sulfur can help that.) Berry size depends upon variety but it can be influenced by soil moisture. If the weather has been dry (and you haven't irrigated) that might be the cause of the small berries. As they mature the berries may increase in size, too. In any case, sometimes the smallest berries have the most intense flavor! |
