May is the best time to start pumpkins from seed in your area. On average, the first frost date in Philadelphia is October 28. Depending on variety, pumpkins take about 90 to 120 days to mature from seed, but they also need warm temperatures to grow, flower and set fruits. Sorry I don't have better news!
