I would like to plant evergreen trees that are shaped like Christmas trees. Also would like to plant bulbs that will bloom next spring. What kind of blubs and when do I plant them? My dirt is hard and rocky.

How about planting a dwarf Alberta Spruce? It has a nice Christmas tree shape and won't require pruning. This fall you can plant spring blooming bulbs such as tulips, daffodils, hyacinth and crocus. The bulbs will grow better if you amend your soil with organic matter before you plant them. Enjoy your garden!
