You'll have all sorts of new gardening adventures as you learn to garden in such a different climate! This URL will take you to an Alabama Cooperative Extension Service publication on growing roses, including recommended varieties: http://www.aces.edu/pubs/docs/.... You can also grow rhododendrons in Alabama. There are many that will do well. I'd suggest visting some local nurseries and garden centers to get an idea of the ones that are best adapted to your area.
