Hummingbirds are attracted to the color red and they especially like trumpet shaped flowers. They are also attracted to fuchsia. Since the area is so shaded and your soil is alkaline, How about planting a hardy fuchsia in a container. You can use potting soil in the container and the fuchsia will be happy in the shade. Enjoy!
