i have a 3 year old pecan tree. What is the best thing to use to get rid of bag worms on it? |
The little larvae that are in the bags will leave the protection of the bags and can be controlled at that time (usually in June or July). The best time to apply an insecticide is while the larvae are still small (less than 1/2-inch long). Several products are available for homeowner use. The least toxic is the microbial insecticide Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) which is sold under many brand names, including Dipel. Timing is extremely important so watch the leaves for signs of the larvae and treat at that time. |
