Lace leaf maples are the more delicate of the Japanese maples. They like a few hours of morning sunshine but need protection from hot afternoon sun. They love acidic soils so mulch around the base with peat moss or compost and when you feed (once a year in the spring), feed with an acidified fertilizer such as Miracle Gro or Miracid. Lace leaf maples like moist but well draining soils so water yours deeply once or twice a week, depending upon weather and how well your soil drains. Most importantly, enjoy your beautiful tree!
