|How can I keep my leaves on my banana plants from tearing when the wind blows. A friend of mind said you can use oil or cooking spray is that true and is it safe for my plants

|There's not much you can do to keep the leaves from tearing in the wind. They are tender and if they didn't move and tear they could act like the sail on a boat and actually pull the entire plant over. I wouldn't use oil on the leaves. It will clog the pores and prevent respiration. If the leaves cannot breathe they will die. I'm afraid you'll just have to put up with the tattered leaves - it's normal and natural for a banana plant.
