Aeration - Knowledgebase Question

I want to aerate my lawn in the fall, and want to use the plug method. I don't have a tractor or riding mower to pull an aerator, nor do I have the money to buy a walk behind plugger. I know renting is an option, but I would like to purchase something to save money in the long run. Do I have any options for under $400? My lawn is about 10K Sq. Ft.

Renting a core aerator is your best option. There's no point in purchasing one - you'll only aerate every 5-10 years depending upon how much foot traffic your lawn receives (that's what compacts the soil). I'd vote for renting one at an equipment rental place.
