Have very steep hillside that needs groundcover - had some but it attracted bees & we have a pool. What can we plant that is hardy, fast growing & will not attract bees? |
The best approach is to choose a groundcover that does not flower. No flowers equals no bees. Evergreen, non-blooming groundcovers for sunny sites and slopes include Taxus baccata 'Repandens' (spreading English yew), Euonymus fortunei, Coprosma repens 'Marble Queen', Baccharis pilularis (dwarf Coyote Brush) and Juniperus sabina 'Tamariscifolia'. Vinca minor is another consideration and, while it flowers, it doesn't necessarily attract hoards of bees. Best wishes with your landscape. |
