Transplanting a perennial into a pot with
soil that has tiny spider roots. It is diffi-
cult to remove the roots so should I dis-
card the soil or can I plant the perennial
with the roots.

I'd go ahead and plant in the soil. The tiny roots will decompose now that the original plant is gone.
