Having recently moved back to Michigan during the winter I noticed these white bark trees (Birch?) and I'm wondering why they aren't very plentiful in many homes. Could you provide any info on the trees I made need to know? Thanks

What you are seeing is Paper Birch or Canoe Birch or American White Birch, all common names for Betula papyrifera. It grows well in Michigan and I don't know why you don't see them in landscapes. Perhaps because they are so common and there are so many more interesting trees out there?
