Have a narrow strip between my garage and sidewalk (20ftx2ft). Want vines/climbers to ~10 ft max + low groundcovering perennials. Zone 5, northern exposure, early am/late pm sun. Ideal plants would add insulation to wall, flowering, low maintenance, won't overgrow sidewalk. Also, how best to support vines/climbers.

Climbing hydrangea would be perfect for the site. Dutchman's Pipe and trumpet vine are two more suggestions. You'll need to provide a trellis for them to climb or string some steel wire from the roof and anchor it into the ground so your vines will have some support. Best wishes with your garden.
