I have tried to grow onions and I cannot get one to grow larger than an 1 1/2 in diameter. Am I planting them to deep? Not deep enough? Any ideas? Thanks, Laura |
The problem might be your timing rather than your technique. Onion sets should be planted in the fall. They will sprout and grow in the spring and summer months. When they are mature the tops will turn yellow. When the foliage begins to turn brown you can harvest the onions and dry them for storage. Usually the onion sets are planted about one inch deep and 4-5 inches apart. Hope you get a great harvest with your next crop! |
