I was given several red cabbage plants.
They look ok, but when and how do they grow the round cabbage part we eat?

Cabbage grows best in cool weather so they should be started outdoors just before your last frost. Depending upon the variety you are growing they can take from 45-60 days to develop heads. You'll see the heads developing in another 3-4 weeks. It can be harvested at any size. Enjoy!
