My yellow bells are huge by end of summer. I was told when I bought them, that they would be small. 6 foot plus is not small.
Question: Can I clip them throughout the summer to keep them more manageable?

Yellow bells can grow upwards of 10' tall and wide so you'll need to prune throughout the summer months to keep yours at a reasonable height and width. It won't hurt them at all to prune them back as needed. I prune mine all the way down to about 6 inches above ground level every 3-4 years to renew them when they get out of hand. I also remove lots and lots of branches and stems throughout the spring and summer months. They just laugh at my efforts to keep them small! But they are beautiful when they flower so I love to have them in my landscape.
