I recently purchased a Bing Cherry Tree at Home Depot. I'd like to keep the height of the tree at approx. 12'. When should I prune the branches? Thanks |
You can prune your tree in the summer, after you've harvested the fruit. Prune it all over, shortening some of the branches, removing any that are overcrowded or rubbing, and completely removing any that are out of place. It's best to prune each year to contain the size. If you allow it to become overgrown and then try to reduce the size, you can cause stress which will invite insect and disease problems. Best wishes with your cherry tree. |
