|New to east tennessee. Hard red clay soil. not sure how to water, front in sun most of day, back in shade and needs some type of grass seed, not sure what. Watering, fertilization, grass seed recommendations?
|Actually, most of Tennessee falls into what is classified as the Eastern Transitional Zone, meaning that very few cool- and warm-season grass species thrive there. To choose the best turf type for your yard, it's best to consult with a local landscaper or with your Agricultural Extension Service (ph# 901-668-8543) to get a recommendation for a locally adapted variety. If your yard gets full sun, Bermuda may be a wise choice. Once you've decided on a grass type and broadcast your seeds, you can cover it with a thin layer of peatmoss to help keep it moist and to keep the birds from feasting on your seeds. Straw tends to stay around for a while so I'd use either peat moss or compost over the seeds. Best wishes with your lawn~
