I had what I thought was wild onions growing in my herb garden

It's interesting, isn't it? I suspect that there was a clove of garlic, or part of one, left in the soil after your harvested your original garlic. You can plant the seeds and they can grow into garlic but they won't develop edible cloves until the second year the plants are in the ground. It might be fun to experiment, though.
