I asked and was told it might take a year for a peach seed to germinate because the outer shell is so hard. Is this true if I have the inner seed since the shell came apart when I peeled the peach?

Well, in that case, the seed should germinate right away if it didn't dry out too much. Go ahead and plant it = and good luck with your peach pit!
