I recently put down black mulch which has attracted scores and scores of hornets. They are devouring my impatiens too and are a nuisance. What can I do?

Hornets like the heat generated by the black mulch. They are also finding nectar on your plants which also attracts them,. Setting traps some distance away from the bed might lure them away. You might try hosing your flower bed down with water in the early morning to see if you can rinse off any nectar that might be attracting them. Wish there were alternatives!
