Several of my geraniums have scale on the leaves. Can the plants be treated? Will the scale spread to other plants?

Scale insects will spread so you'll want to either scrape the insects off the stems and leaves or cut the infested leaves from the plant so the crawlers won't move onto another part of the plant. Scale insects have hard outer shells so Insecticidal Soaps aren't very effective and other products might be too strong for your geraniums. If you have patience, you can pry or peel the insects off the stems of your plants, using a moistened cotton swab. If the plant is badly infested, it might be best to toss the plant and replace it. Scale insects are extremely difficult to eradicate!
