Gourds in New Mexico - Knowledgebase Question

I would like to plant some hard shell gourds to climb and shade the west side of my house in summer. What type would you suggest.

Most gourds are vigorous enough for the task. However, you may want to choose one of the smaller fruited types such as the luffa sponge gourde or a small to medium size dipper gourd. This way the fruit won't be so heavy that it would pull the vine off of its support.
